Therapies
At Specialised Behavioural Support Services (SBS), our goal is to empower individuals to achieve their goals through tailored support and guidance. We work with individuals and their loved ones to create personalised plans and implement practical solutions in every part of the participant's life.
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
We provide genuine support for individuals living with a diagnosed psychosocial disability brought on by a mental health condition. We work collaboratively with participants, their families, carers, and service providers to develop and implement an effective, personalised recovery plan.
We provide guidance and support with day-to-day activities, equipping the participant with the tools to take control of their life and confidently navigate its various challenges.
Your NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Coach helps individuals:
- Discover their identity
- Identify and set meaningful goals
- Build life skills and coping strategies
- Better articulate and regulate their emotions
- Maintain healthy relationships
- Feel empowered about taking control of their future

We offer targeted support for individuals, focusing on helping them manage the emotional, psychological, and social challenges associated with their disability. Counselling under the NDIS with SBS involves one-on-one sessions with one of our registered psychologists, during which we address your goals and work with you to implement effective, sustainable strategies to help you reach them.
Counselling services, funded by the NDIS, can include support with:
- Anxiety, stress, and depression
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Anger management
- Grief or bereavement
- Trauma and abuse
- Relationship and communication issues
- Emotional dysregulation
- Conflict resolution
- Building life skills and healthy habits
- Improving independence
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a type of talk therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful or damaging thought patterns. It is commonly used in instances of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, and can be accessed if your funding is located under the Capacity Building supports category within the NDIS. CBT with SBS teaches coping skills, focusing on positive functional outcomes for participants.
Under the NDIS, CBT helps:
- Identify unhelpful patterns and triggers
- Increase positive thinking & behaviours
- Build on coping strategies
- Problem-solve challenging and/or uncertain situations
